Do you have any household hazardous waste that you have no idea what to do with?

Don’t know what household hazardous waste products are? See the list below for examples.

We are sponsoring is collection day for household hazardous waste products in the county. In order to participate you must be a resident or property owner in Kalkaska County. When you drop off waste you MUST provide proof of residence via a drivers license, tax bill, or water bill.

Residents can drop off 100 pounds of waste for free and will be charged $0.50 per pound for additional waste. Payments can be made cash or check. Checks can be made payable to Kalkaska Conservation District. (We are unable to accept credit cards at this time).

Drop off site will be the Kalkaska Middle School (1700 W Kalkaska St, Kalkaska, MI 49646). Please enter the parking lot from Dresden Street.

Please schedule a time to drop off waste on our website or call our office at (231) 258- 3307. If you register online please provide your township and address.

If you can’t get to us in time, please come anyway. Most reservations are on the hour, so plan to arrive at 11:30 or 12:30, etc.

Silver/metal polish

Paint Products:
Deck stain/preservative
Driveway sealer
Oil, latex, and lead paint
Paint stripper

Yard & Garden Products:
Chemical fertilizer
Insect repellent/fogger/killer
Mouse/rat poison

Miscellaneous Products:
Fluorescent light bulbs
Household batteries
Lighter fluid
Mercury (elemental)
Mercury thermometers and thermostats
Nail polish/remover
Pool chemicals

Latex Paint Notice:
Latex paints are water-based and are accepted, in liquid form only, at the Household Hazardous Waste events. Please dispose of hardened latex paint and empty paint cans with your regular household garbage.
